Electrical Shock Hazard · Disconnect power before servicing · Failure to do so could result in personal injury or death. |
Electrical Shock Hazard · For your personal safety, you must check the following parts if the heat element has shorted out (blown fuses).
Failure to do so could result in personal injury or death. |
| OHMMETER
REQUIRED
This heat element is located in the heater box in the back of the dryer. This element is used to heat the air passing over the clothes. See Type A for two terminals or Type B for three terminals. |

| STEP 1 Disconnect the electrical
power supply STEP 2 Remove the rear service panel TESTING STEP 3 Remove one wire at a time, carefully labeling each wire according to the terminal marking on the heat element. This procedure should assure that the right wire is reconnected to the right terminal. STEP 4 You must know how to use an ohmmeter. STEP 5 Set the ohmmeter scale to the lowest ohms setting and ZERO the meter. See the instructions that came with your ohmmeter. |

| STEP A Touch one ohmmeter probe to one of the
terminals. STEP B Touch one ohmmeter probe to the other terminal. STEP C The ohmmeter should show between 5 and 50 ohms. STEP D If you do not get this reading, the element is bad and needs replacing |
STEP E Touch one of the ohmmeter probes to any one of the
two terminals. STEP F Touch the other ohmmeter probe to any bare metal (heater box) on the dryer. STEP G The ohmmeter should show an open circuit. If not, the heat element is bad and needs replacing. |
Electrical Shock Hazard · This heat element should not be grounded. · Make sure the heat element is retained by the insulators and does not contract anything else. · A grounded condition may cause an overheat condition or shock hazard. · Failure to do so could result in personal injury. |

| Read steps 1-5 of this procedure. STEP A Touch one ohmmeter probe to the middle terminal (H2). STEP B Touch the other ohmmeter probe to the outside terminal having two wires (H1). STEP C The ohmmeter should show between 1 and 4 ohms. STEP D If you do not get this reading, the heat element is bad and needs replacing. |
STEP E Touch one ohmmeter probe to one of the outside
terminal (Hi). STEP F Touch the other ohmmeter probe to the other outside terminal (H3). STEP G The ohmmeter should show between 6 and 10 ohms. STEP H If you do not get this reading, the heat element is bad and needs replacing. STEP J Touch the other ohmmeter probe to any bare metal (heater box) on the dryer. STEP K The ohmmeter should show an open circuit. If not, the heat element is bad and needs replacing. STEP L Check the other two terminals as in steps I,J&K. |
