Whirlpool / Kenmore Belt Drive Snubber

The function of the snubber is to reduce the movement of the base and tub during the spin cycle. The snubber rides on a stainless steel or porcelain plate. These wear out over time and can sometimes make strange noises.

This part comes as a complete assembly. Snubber and Spring. 

Snubber Replacement

  1. Disconnect the power
  2. Raise the top
  3. Lift up on the snubber spring and remove the snubber
  4. Remove the nut & bolt holding the spring to the cabinet
  5. Remove the spring by pulling toward the front of the washer while pushing down at the back of the spring. This will release the end of the spring from the hump on the bracket.
  6. Replace in reverse order and run/check
