Frigidaire New Style Half Moon Shaped Cube Ice Maker

To cycle this ice maker pull the rake fingers upwards with a firm constant pull. Look and listen to the ice maker. You should see the gears on the front of the ice maker start to turn and after a few seconds you can let go of the rake and it will continue on it's own. The ice maker will go through it's cycle. The fill portion is towards the end of the cycle

Ice Maker Water Inlet Valve
Check for Continuity
This Valve Gets 110 volts for 7 to 10 seconds via the Ice Maker to fill the Ice Maker with water.

Note: we do not recommend taking these valves apart and cleaning them as they usually will leak if you do this and you also take the risk of the valve sticking in the open position and flooding your house. The diaphragms in these valve swell over time and become deteriorated, not letting enough water in.

 

 

On this Ice Maker there are a few things that go bad.

  •  The plastic gear on the front breaks or has a tooth missing.

  •  One of the switches fail.

  •  The motor goes bad.

  • The Heater goes bad.

  • The thermostat goes bad.

  •  The shut off arm  return spring breaks.

  • The thermal cut out goes bad (usually the wires corrode off the end)

Note: Thermal Cutoff can be bypassed for testing purposes.

Note: You can adjust the water level or cube size by turning the screw on the front of this ice maker. Make small adjustments as in like 1/4 a turn at a time.

Yes,  you can get the individual parts inside of this ice maker.

To Diagnose this ice maker  remove the front cover to the ice maker, then check to see if it has any water or ice in the mold.

 No water? Cycle the ice maker Still no water after cycling it?

Ice Maker won't cycle? Check the thermal cutoff

Note: Thermal Cutoff can be bypassed for testing purposes.

 Check the fill tube for being frozen up. If frozen fill tube replace the water inlet valve and check for a good water supply to the water inlet valve. 

Next step ..disconnect the power to the ice maker and Ohm out the mold heater and check the switches inside of the ice maker head. All checks ok? 

Next check the water supply to the water inlet valve and the inlet valve it's self.
